For the 20th consecutive year. W. Lee Wan, M.D., Coastal Eye’s Medical Director, has been named one of the Best Doctors in America®.
Recognizing the top 5% of physicians in their respective specialties, the prestigious Best Doctors list results from extensive, confidential polling of some 40,000 physicians across the nation. The participating doctors are asked, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?”
“The Best Doctors award is an honor because it reflects the opinions of other top physicians, and unlike some other similar-sounding titles, isn’t something that you can just buy,” said Dr. Wan. “And as a Best Doctor, you also get to participate in the survey helping identify other doctors to whom you would refer your loved ones. It’s somewhat subjective, but it is a good measure of a doctor’s reputation among his or her peers.”
Doctors on the list are sometimes asked to use their expertise to consult, online or in person, regarding particularly challenging cases. The Best Doctors list is offered to selected health plans and health plan purchasers who wish to make this expertise available to their beneficiaries.
